Idaho River Sports // 10AM
Join Idaho Rivers United, 94.9 The River, and Idaho River Sports for our Annual End of Float Season Cleanup!
The Boise River is a true gem of the Treasure Valley; it's a 102-mile river with headwaters that extend from the Boise National Forest and flow into the confluence of the Snake River. It consists of a 29-mile paved greenbelt path that is a common transportation route in the Treasure Valley and it supplies endless opportunities for outdoor fun: providing opportunities to play fetch with your dog friends, birdwatch, fish for rainbow and brown trout, relax along its riverbanks, and the all-time summer favorite activity -- floating a 6-mile section of the river that extends from Barber Park to Ann Morrison park. Last year, Boise Parks and Recreation reported that 130,000 people enjoyed a refreshing float.
The Boise River flows through the heart of the Treasure Valley community and has added significantly to our local culture. Idaho Rivers United and 94.9 the River know how important the Boise River is to the Treasure Valley community and we want to make sure it stays beautiful and healthy for everyone to enjoy. Last year, our organizations partnered for our first ever End of Float Season cleanup, we rallied 205 amazing volunteers from our community and removed a whopping 850 pounds of trash.
This year, we're aiming even higher! We're inviting 250 volunteers to join us and help clean a longer stretch of the Boise River, extending from Barber Park to the Garden City Library. Volunteer's efforts will have a massive impact, helping keep the Boise River clean and healthy for all.
This event isn't just a cleanup—it's a party! After all the hard work, stick around for a community celebration and afterparty hosted by 94.9 The River and Idaho River Sports. We'll have vendors, delicious food trucks, refreshing shaved ice, lively music, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and trash themed games. Plus, as a thank you for your hard work, all volunteers will be entered into a raffle for some great prizes! And that's not all—Idaho River Sports is offering special in-store discounts and discounts on rentals just for volunteers, and they'll be donating 10% of all in-store sales to Idaho Rivers United.
So come clean the river and party with us on September 14th!
